I feel YouTube is so much fun in that I can search for a varity of information and clips which can inspire my thinking, refresh my ideas and make me realize people's opinions and persepctives towards some contriversial issues,such as People's opinions of Britney Spear's lost of her custody of children, or people's perspectives towards Miss South Carolina's answers to a question in the pageant of MISS Tenn USA 2007. Becasue of the info technological platform, I still can learn diferent cultures, opinions, and thinking styles online, wchih will definitely benfit my foreign language learning because learning language inlcudes learning so many things such as cultures, norms, and manners.

Hm….youtube, yes!!! Cheers to the ones who founded youtube, providing services like google videos, people are now marching to the web watching video all day now! I always wonder what motivates people to go online, spending their weekends, late nights watching videos, surprisingly enough, the wide spread of broadband must be the key. With the excess to internet, I suppose online readings to most people just don’t give the same excitements as they would back several years ago. And now the innovations that youtube made encouraged so many people to seek “fun” in order to suppress their boredom has had considerable impacts on the viewers themselves. Certainly, I think they are the side effects of youtube, yes, down sides, for every innovation that I know creates pros and cons, usefulness and uselessness, good and evil… (it reminds me of one book that I read on media and technology by a guy whose name that I never care to remember, the supervening social necessity he said, pushing the flow of one invention, but diminishing the creation of similar ideas….) so Youtube, a great way to learn, gain and experience different aspects of life, work, school, etc..but maybe it does it too much without limitation and boundaries, certain people now are so addicted to it that they would spend large amount of their lifetime flipping through each videos, viewing contents that are random, unfiltered, violent, misleading. They won’t just pervert minds, but cut viewers off from society, interpersonal interactions, connectivity with the world that is outside the screen box, lot of people are drifting off from reality, and trapped in their own little room. I think I sound like I am against youtube now, but some one has to mention it, in some cases, I can’t really recommend youtube as a learning tool, in fact, if putting it into academic uses, like I always would do when I try to get some ideas or demos from the youtube network, however I frowned every time, caz there are far more junks in each list than the actual useful contents that I am seeking for, even to a degree where I can find nothing but garbage. As to conclude, You tube is not recommended for people under 18. lol ps plz don't get me wrong, I support youtube for what it does good!

The author discussed five factors to analyze the online activities: 1) boundaries: breaking geographical, intellectual, and political boundaries and subsequently teachers have to know what’s going on in the students’ mind, and how they are processing, digesting, constructing and interpreting their materials, 2) authority: Internet has the potential for confounding the default authority, for if students are allowed to wander the Web at will, they bring problematic materials to the class and teachers may need to establish some mechanism to screen the source and authorship of information as well as evaluate its relevance and accuracy, 3)stability: website change rapidly and constantly and this may engender pedagogical problems since sites may be abandoned and no longer updated, thereby demanding on teachers’ capacity to improvise as well as requiring students’ skills and knowledge to cope with this issue, 4) pedagogical context: Web browsers are context-free in many aspects, and observing students’ progress is sometime elusive in the existing curriculum, 5) disciplinary context: the age appropriate and developmentally appropriate materials provide disciplinary support; however, online resources usually are not place in any framework or sequences that correspond to teachers’ curricular needs.
