CMC vs. CBL

What is the main difference between Web 2.0 and Web 1.0 in terms of language learning? In my opinion, web 2.0 emphasizes more on computer-mediated communication (CMC). The application has social functions to connect people in the web, i.e. more human to human communication through the Internet. On the other hand, Web 1.0 is more about pre-programmed software for specific aspects of leaning. It is supported to be well-organized according to particular designed purposes. It may be interactive but the kind of computer-based learning (CBL) is more communication of human to computer. Am I right about the terms and the differences I define? I would like to know more ideas on this issue and I am calling out through CMC.

i think web 2.0 is society simulation over web.

it try to clone the communication of people and record it. in traditional, we talk each other with phone or face to face and remember it by our brain. but our brain is volatilized than hard disk of computer. so if we record our knowledge completely, and share it to anybody. maybe we get the maximal benefit.

Yeah, I totally agree with your point. More recently, I heard the IT industry is moving to Web 3.0. According to Wikipedia, “Web 3.0 is a term that is used to describe various evolution of Web usage and interaction along several paths. These include transforming the Web into a database, a move towards making content accessible by multiple non-browser applications, the leveraging of artificial intelligence technologies, the Semantic web, the Geospatial Web, or the 3D web. More often it is used as a marketing ploy to hype incremental improvements of Web 2.0.” Sometimes technologies fly way faster than my learning curve!

Can you give me some expamples of Web1.0, Wed 2.0, and Web 3.0 since I am a little confused and have not much knowing about these functions which all means to communicate with other people?

I think no matter it is Web2.0 or web1.0, everthings all have positive and negative side. It depends on how to use it and how to make it as perfect as you can.
If we still stay in the time of web 1.0, I think we might feel bored that we just can "read" the information but not give any responses. I think I won't like that.

Sure,I think your opinion is right about the differences you define. Through computer-mediated communication, people can communicate with others in the internet. Through computer-based learning, people can have multiple
learning, and it brings more convenience than before.
